World's First Online Platform for Large-Scale Physiological Research

Ro accelerates scientific discoveries by capturing predictive non-contact markers related to the heart and brain from participants' webcams

Empowering Research Online

The current research landscape is limited in its generalizability and translational impact due to high costs, time-consuming processes, and challenges with participant recruitment and reach. Ro disrupts health research as the world's first platform to enable large-scale health research online, at a rate of 100s of participants a day, at 1/10th the cost.

Leveraging AI, research methods, optics, biophysics, physiology and advanced computing, Ro captures predictive non-contact markers related to the heart and brain from participants' webcams, empowering participants and researchers worldwide for more inclusive and impactful studies. By aggregating data worldwide and leveraging machine learning models at the edge, we contribute to the development of secure and robust predictive models applications in terrestrial and space flight, public health, business, and academia.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Research Online (Ro) is highly secure. It is built using PHIPPA compliant containers and leverages edge computing to enable local data processing, anonymization, offline operation, and a distributed architecture, minimizing data interception and unauthorized access for enhanced security.

  • Raw data is never stored, but rather locally analyzed, anonymized and processed on edge devices. Researchers are only given the AI-derived variables they need to conduct their research.

  • Individuals of all ages, ranging from those in utero and neonates to octogenarians and centenarians, have the opportunity to participate regardless of their location, whether on Earth, in low Earth orbit, or even in future missions to Mars. The only requirement is that you have a device with a camera and microphone, along with a stable internet connection to participate.

  • We focus on novel (i.e., beyond typical heart rate measures) acquisition of signals related to the heart and brain that can serve as diagnostic and prognostic non-contact markers of health and disease.

  • While we build up our experimental databases in every domain, we will funnel participants in through other crowd sourcing platform to meet the needs of our researchers. Moreover, researchers/clinicians can also recruit their own participants and have them use Ro.
